Gilgit-Baltistan legal, constitutional part of J&K: Harinder

Tabling of a motion in UK Parliament condemning Pakistan’s “arbitrary” move to declare the strategic Gilgit-Baltistan region as its fifth province is indeed a step which has further strengthened and authenticated oft-repeated claim of India that Pakistan is in illegal occupation of PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan regions, which are integral part of the Jammu and Kashmir State .
In a press statement, BJP State General Secretary Harinder Gupta, said that tabling of such motion in the House of Commons is a timely action to draw the world attention to the issue of illegal occupation of a large part of J&K State by Pakistan and its high handed action of gobbling strategic area of the state. The Conservative Party MP, Bob Blackman has, infact, taken a initiative to make United Kingdom Parliamentarians aware about the legal and constitutional position of India and Pakistan on Gilgit- Baltistan. Such a move at this juncture is significant on account of Pakistan having practically ceded some portion of the region to China.
Harinder Gupta said that the motion clearly mentions that Gilgit-Baltistan has been illegally occupied by Pakistan since 1947 and the country is attempting to annex the already disputed area. The same motion further notes that Gilgit-Baltistan is a legal and constitutional part of the state of Jammu & Kashmir, which is illegally occupied by Pakistan, where people are denied their fundamental rights, including the right to freedom of expression.
It is not out of place to mention that the resolution of Indian Parliament passed long back in 1994 showing PoK as the part of the Indian Dominion, stands vindicated by the contents of British Parliamentarian through the mentioned motion tabled in the UK Parliament.
Harinder also appealed the Govt. of India to diplomatically convince the other countries of the world to endorse the stand taken by the British Parliamentarian to end the bullism of fringe groups like Pakistan across the globe.
