Speaker J&K Assembly and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta toured various areas of Gandhi Nagar and took on spot assessment of the ongoing works and kick started various developmental works.
He was accompanied by the X-En, PWD(R&B) Mohammad Abdullah; X-En, JMC, Joginder Kumar; AEE PWD(R&B) Manoj Kumar; AEE, JMC, Gurcharan Singh and officers of Rural development & Revenue department.
The Speaker inaugurated Macadamization of road from Military Hospital to Satwari Chowk, the work will be executed by the PWD(R&B) department at an estimated amount of around 60 lacs.
Later he visited Nanak Nagar, Dishmesh Nagar, Digiana, Nai Basti and inaugurated various works for construction of lanes and drains in these areas. These works are undertaken by the JMC department and will be executed at an estimated amount of around 30 lacs.
While undertaking the tour of the area, various deputations met the Speaker and expressed their gratitude for fulfilling these long pending demands of the people of these areas and projected some more demands pertaining to development; they also demanded the immediate removal of encroachment over the Nallahs at Sanjay Nagar, Nai basti and Nanak Nagar.
The speaker gave a patient hearing and assured the locals that all their genuine demands will be fulfilled in a phased manner; he further said that the instructions have already been passed to the concerned for removal of such encroachments which causes devastation during rainy season.
He said that it is his priority to fulfill the needs of the residents of Gandhi Nagar and every requirement related to development is taken up on priority and the works pertaining to improvement of power and water supply, construction of lanes & drains and enhancing other civic amenities have already been taken up and are in full swing throughout the Gandhi Nagar constituency.
