Lal Singh launches plantation drive in Srinagar

‘Asks party workers to shun smoking’

Srinagar, May 19: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader and Minister for Forest, Environment, Ecology Choudhary Lal Singh organized a plantation drive at Cheshma Shahi, Srinagar on Friday.

He also held first ever party workers meet after Darbar was opened here, in which senior party workers participated.

Singh asked workers to shun smoking and contribute for the pollution free environment by remaining away from addictive drugs, smoking and plant more and more tress. “I want Srinagar city pollution free and for that we have to work together to achieve it,” he said.

Many party workers deposit their cigarette packs before senior leader, who later on burnt them to ashes.

Singh also appealed them to take a pledge from today onward to stop smoking.

The meeting was organized by District President Srinagar Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, MLC Charanjeet Singh Khalsa, Altaf Thakur State Media Secretary, Vice Chairman SICOP Dr. Ali Mohammad Mir, Vice Chairman Horticulture and Marketing G.M Mir, District Vice Presidents Srinagar- Ashok  Bhat, Molvi Tariq, Asif Masoodi, Hakim Masood, Distt. Gen. Secretary Srinagar, Grievance Cell Incharge Dr. Rafi were also present in the meeting.
