On the occasion of Mahaveer Jayanti, an impressive function was held today in Zorawar Singh Auditorium , Jammu University campus.
Programme was organized by S.S. Jain Sabha, Jammu and managed by Jain Yuvak Sangh, Jammu.
On the ocassion, Cultural programme was presented by students of Shri Mahaveer Jain School and members of Taruni Mandal, Shraman Sanskriti Manch and many other organizations affiliated to S.S. Jain Sabha, Jammu.
This day is of religious importance to Jain Samaaj and is considered the biggest day of the year as Lord Mahaveera was born today.
On the eve of Mahaveer Jaynti, a shobha yatra was also organized by Jain Yuvak Sangh.
Dr. Nirmal Singh, Dy. CM J and K was the chief guest and Smt. Priya Sethi, Minister for education and tourism in J&k presided over.Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu east, Ashok Khajuria, MLC. Parmodh Jain, Finance Secretary and Sh. Rakesh Gupta, president, CCI were guests of honour.

On the ocassion, Jain yuvak Sangh, honoured the children who excelled in academic and sports at various levels.Neerav Jain, Gen sec, Jain Yuvak Sangh conducted proceedings for this prize distribution.
Speaking on the ocassion, Dr. Nirmal Singh,Dy CM said that the preachings of Lord Mahaveera hold same values even today which they held centuries ago
Priya Sethi, MOS, J&K govt said that she is impressed by ideology of Jainism and further said that both Centre and State govt is trying to follow and implement the priniciples.
Sh. Rajesh Gupta, MLA, Jammu east and Sr. Varender jeet Singh ,Vice Chairman, J&k police housing corporation also spoke on the ocassion.
Proceedings for the whole programme were conducted by Raman Jain, Gen Sec, S.S.Jain Sabha, Jammu.
In the end, Raj Kumar Jain, President, S.S. jain Sabha thanked guests and people of jain samaj for coming and making programme a grand sucess.
