Lauding CM Mehbooba Mufti calling spade a spade that for vested interests in valley people gave guns to children while they should have been holding pens, vicious atmosphere created hampered development, S.S. Bijral state BJP spokesperson referring to Paragwal-Khour bridge said ‘when pens stop delivering’ and hold development.
CM Mehbooba Mufti during visit to Kulgam when development works worth Rs 57 crores were started lamented the hostile atmosphere created by vested interests gave children guns and stones while they should be holding pens and books. This she said hampered development in past one year.
Welcoming her statement baring true personality of so called messiahs’ of people, Bijral former IGP said unfortunately some authorities exploiting situation hold back their pen and don’t let development happen. He said they compound people suffering.
Elaborating Bijral said Pargwal Khour 1600 mt span worth 207 crores bridge over mighty Chenab river financed by Union Ministry of Surface Transport and Highways, construction is stalled by Jammu Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) for over a year.
He said JKPCC subsidiary wing of R&B department kept the tender opening pending for 13 months and then cancelled all tenders when three tenderers have deposited earnest money of 10 crores. It means retendering and waste of more time thus kicking away people welfare.
Bijral said the project of Pargwal Khour bridge is vital for border belt people of two constituencies of Chhamb and Akhnoor. Seeing the reluctance of authorities MLA Akhnoor led days long protest outside JKPCC office. He fervently appealed the CM for time bound start of the bridge construction simultaneously ordering enquiry into delay caused in launching the project.
