MLA Rajesh Gupta performed the aarti of Suryaputri Tawi along with the convenor of Tawi Bachao Aandolan Chandermohan Sharma on the banks of Tawi river.
Tawi Bachao Aandolan led by senior BJP leader Chandermohan Sharma has been spearheading the movement for the protection and preservation of river Tawi and periodic functions are being organised on its banks to highlight various issues concerning the pollution, cleanliness and encroachment of its basin and banks at various places.
Rajesh Gupta while speaking on the ocassion said that Tawi river has great significance for the people of Jammu.
Rajesh Gupta said that the river Tawi is not only a source of fresh water but the people of Jammu rever it as Suryaputri. There is a need to clean it from all the pollutants and also remove all the encroachment from its banks .The plan to develop the banks of the river have been made with the Sabarmati River Front Development Corporation and the work on the same would begin shortly.
