Shri Daljit Singh Chib, Vice Chairman, (Minister of State) J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans undertook a tour to the Arnia and adjoining areas to see the progress of paddy harvesting in these areas.
The Vice Chairman who was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu Shri R. L. Bhagat and large group of progressive farmers of that area. The Vice Chairman was very happy to see that the modern method of harvesting is being implemented in the area. The Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu apprised that there is a bumper crop of paddy in this area and the quality is also very good.
The Vice Chairman visited the fields of Shri Rajinder Sharma one of the progressive farmer from Mohan Pur, Arnia who set an example by taking four crops from his field which touched another mile stone by producing a hybrid variety of Paddy crop with highest yield of 65 Quintals per Hectare.
While interacting with the farmers the Vice Chairman Kisan Board assured that Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy has been fixed by Government of India at Rs.1510 per quintal and their produce will be saved from distress sale. The Vice Chairman Kisan Board assured them that more procurement Centers will be established in all the Districts of Jammu province in addition of procurement Centres which were established last year. He advised them sell their produce to any nearby procurement Centre so that their time and money will be saved from private millers and other brokers.
Among other prominent persons, Shri Satpal Charak, Shri Bakshi,Subash Dasgotra and Rajinder Singh etc. also accompanied the Vice Chairman during his tour.
