The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders visited different areas in Ganderbal district to create awareness among the masses about the programs being held to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.
The BJP leaders, on the instructions of the party senior leader Ashok Koul, led by the party spokesman Khalid Jehangir visited various villages in Ganderbal and informed the people that Central Government, in collaboration with states and Panchayats has organized a ‘Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan’ (Village Self Governance Campaign) for the benefit of rural people.
“The campaign aims to generate nation-wide efforts to increase social harmony across villages, strengthen Panchayati Raj, promote rural development, and foster farmers’ progress,” the BJP spokesman said.
He said that these programmes are being held to honour Dr. B R Ambedkar, and resolve to strengthen social harmony.
The BJP spokesman said that party leaders during their extensive tour of the Ganderbal district informed the people that the main aim of the ongoing campaign is the development of Gram Panchayat for local economic development, optimum utilization of funds available with Panchayati Raj Institutions, clean drinking water and sanitation, role of women in village and rural development and social inclusion including welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, person with disabilities and other marginalized groups.
The BJP spokesman said the party leaders in coming days would tour different rural areas in Kashmir and would ensure that more and more people participate in this program and its benefits reach to the grass root level.
