As part of the nationwide campaign, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga launched the “Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan” at Panchayat Kartholi in Bari Brahmana.
The Minister kick started the campaign which will culminate on Panchayati Raj Day on April 24. He also paid floral tributes to Bharat Ratan, Dr. B R Ambedkar on his 125th Birth Anniversary in a function organized by the Rural Development Department.
Each Year, 24th April is observed as Panchayati Raj Day, commemorating the 73rd Constitutional Amendment.
The Union Government has proposed a three phase campaign starting 14th April to 24th April called the ‘Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday’ to celebrate the all important event.

The campaign aims to strengthen the Panchayati Raj across the Nation and through it promote social harmony in villages and foster well being of farmers and agricultural labourers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the role of Dr. B R Ambedkar in the creation of the Indian constitution and shaping of modern India.
He said equality, liberty and fraternity, the basic goals of Dr. B R Ambedkar’s ideology, can only be achieved, if all the countrymen, irrespective of caste, creed and religion follow the guiding principles of our constitution.
Dr. B R Ambedkar will always be remembered for his outstanding contribution in uplifting the downtrodden people, the Minister said.
Ganga said that government is working on the agenda of development and is committed to empower the panchayats so that villages are developed on modern lines with all basic amenities.
On the occasion, an oath of tolerance and social harmony was also administered to the gathering.
In district Samba, 25 Gram Sabhas will be organised on April 19th, 20th, 22nd and 23rd, where works to be undertaken as part of Village Development Plan shall be approved. On April 21st, Mahilla Gram Sabhas will be organized across the district and Village Health and Nutrition Day will also be celebrated.
Farmer’s feedback will also be taken to further improve the government’s outreach to the farmers.
During the function, the Minister also distributed cheques worth Rs 7.44 Lacs to the IHL (Individual Household Latrine) beneficiaries of Panchayat Kartholi .
Later, the Minister visited Khiddian village in Bari panchayat of Vijaypur and inaugurated the Women Sanitary Complex constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.80 Lacs.
Among others, ACD Samba Tilak Raj Thapa, DPO, BDO, SDPO Bari Brahmana, concerned officers and large number of people including children were also present.
