BJP State President Jugal Kishore Sharma, while interacting with a large number of people belonging to scheduled caste community living in Chilla village of Dansal Block falling in Nagrota Assembly constituency and had called on him at party office, said that the state’s NC-Congress coalition government has been discriminating with the SCs also in matters related to their welfare and development of their areas. He was responding to their common complaint that a link road for their village, work on which was started few years back, has not been completed and Rural Development Department has been lingering this project for the reasons best known to its officials.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that It is indeed unfortunate that today even after 65 years of independence, the SCs are living in miserable conditions. Although a number of welfare schemes have been launched from time to time with a motive for the upliftment of the SCs but the benefits of these schemes do not reach the genuinely deserving people as a result of which their conditions are still same.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the attitude of the successive governments in the state towards SCs can be well judged from the fact that refugees from West Pakistan have not been granted citizenship rights because majority of them are the members of SC community. Similarly, if we talk of refugees in general, then also refugees from PoJK and others too have been agitating for decades for proper rehabilitation and compensations but no one cares. One government after the other in Jammu and Kashmir has not paid any attention to their grievances. He expressed hope that good sense will prevail on the state government and the voice of SCs will be heard.
