Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga inaugurated upgraded lanes and drains at Ward No.1, 8, 9 and 12 here at Bari Brahmana completed at a cost of Rs 31 lakh.
The Minister was accompanied by Executive Officer Municipal Committee Bari Brahmana, Ajay Sangra besides other officers from concerned departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Ganga stressed on maintaining quality of works being executed and their time bound completion. He asked Executive Officer Municipal Committee to prepare DPR for further upgradation of civic amenities in the area.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to launch special cleanliness drives and ensure that sewerage lines are not choked in the Municipal areas as it can cause many health problems.
Later, the Minister also met women deputations and gave a patient hearing to their demands and concerns. They apprised the Minister on various developmental issues of the area. The Minister assured them that timely action will be taken to redress their genuine demands.
Ganga also visited Secondary Segregation Village Chak Lala, Sehoura, Block Bishnah where Dr. Zaffar Iqbal explained him about the Solid Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) Project. The waste material is collected from houses and dumped there from which organic and inorganic waste material are separated and segregate and sell back to factories for recycling.
On this occasion, the Minister said that it is the collective responsibility of every citizen to keep the surroundings neat and clean. Under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the SLRM helps to maintain the city clean and free from diseases, the Minister added.
