On Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday, Bhartiya Janata Party Leh celebrated good Governance day under the chairmanship of the district president Sh. Tsewang Gonbo. The occasion commenced with screening of a power point presentation on good Governance by Sh. Tsewang Gonbo prepared by the State BJPS’ good governance department which reflects clearly on the land mark high achievement of the Modi Sarkar in 2.5 years compared to past non-BJP Government in center. The power point presentation also reflected on high performances of BJP ruled States in Comparison to non-BJP ruled States in India.
The Hon’ble Minister for Ladakh Affairs Sh. Chhering Dorjay Spoke on the concept of good Governance and implementation and adoption of the concept at LAHDC level in true spirit. Dr. Sonam Dawa, Hon’ble CEC, LAHDC assured the party high command not to leave a single stone unturned to adopt and implement the concept of good governance and bring about sky touching development in the district and maintain high reputation of the party among the people of Ladakh .
Participants unanimously endorsed the need for ensuring good governance and reckoned recent achievements of the party as under:
- The role of treasury department in Leh is negligible and adds unnecessarily to redtapism.
- Bottom up method of flow or Micro Level planning needs to be further strengthened.
- Panchayati Raj system needs to be further strengthened in the district.
- Performances in both Health and Education departments of Leh district considered satisfactory as compared to some other non BJP ruled states in the country.
- Ease of doing business in Leh is considerably favorable in terms of infrastructure development compared to some other non-BJP ruled states, nevertheless some relaxations for entrepreneurs needs to be seriously thought over by LAHDC to encourage new entrepreneurs.
- Except for BDC Leh district fulfils all five components of the popular five-tier of governance (center, state, district, BDC and Panchayat).
Participants also recognized the recent visit of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Miss Mehbooba Mufti as an important development and appreciated both Sh. Chhering Dorje and Dr. Sonam Dawa for their efforts in getting node from Hon’ble CM on historic achievements like enhancement of the LAHDC’s power to allocate up to Rs. 20 crore from 5 crore limit. Mehbooba Mufti also announced 60 crore rupees for infrastructure development in tourism sector.
A great development has also been able to witness during the CM’s visit is that Leh airport will now be handed over to AAI Leh with immediate effect, which will help to attract more airlines on the sector ultimately it will help slashing down the airfare on this sector without any doubt. CM also announced that two Helicopters will be made available with the LAHDC, one dedicated for public transport in emergency and the other for Executive councilors and government officials for emergency visits to remote areas of Leh Ladakh.

Dorje Motup, Hon’ble councilors, District executive members including Nazir Ahmad (vice president), Tsering Yangjor (gen. sec. organising), Nawang Samstan (Gen. sec.), Dorje Angchuk (Gen. sec.), Tondup Dolma (vice president State Mahila Morcha), Punchok Angmo (Gen. sec. Mahila Morcha), Mandal presidents, Yuva Morcha executive members led by president Tashi Khachu and workers.
