“Bharatiya Janata Party stands by its commitment of implementation of OROP”, stated Brig Anil Gupta, state convener of BJP ex-servicemen Cell, while addressing a meeting of ex-servicemen at Kathua. He told the veterans that he has met the highest functionaries of the Party at Delhi and has been assured by them that BJP is committed to the welfare of the veterans and does not believe in making false promises as was done by the Congress government in the past. He advised the veterans to have patience and give time to the Modi government for implementation of its veteran friendly policies. Brig Gupta further said that they should not pay any heed to the false propaganda unleashed by the Congress party and also not get carried away by a few articles posted on the social media by some veterans.
The NDA government at the centre led by BJP is concerned about the battle worthiness of the Indian Armed Forces. To this end, the Defence Minister has cleared procurement proposals worth 21,000 crore. In another bold move the participation of the private sector in manufacture of transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force. Veterans Commission and construction of a war memorial near India Gate in New Delhi are the other achievements of the government. In order to boost indigenization of defence equipment, foreign direct investment (FDI) up to 49 percent has been allowed.
Brig Gupta also appointed Subedar Subash Chander as convener of Kathua District ex-servicemen Cell of the Party. The strategy and plan to make Mission 44+ of the Party a grand success was also discussed in the meeting. Dr. Narinder Singh, District convener of the cells of BJP was also present during the meeting. Later, many functionaries of the District unit of the BJP also joined the meeting to chalk out a common strategy for Mission 44+. Brig Gupta thanked the veterans and assured them that the Cell would continue to resolve the problems of the veterans.
